DELUXE EDITION
In May of 2002, Mormon Artists Group Press published a deluxe edition of Silent Notes Taken limited to 50 copies for sale. The format is large quarto, 10 by 13 inches, 166 pages plus five unnumbered leaves for the etchings, which are bound in the book. The text paper is Mohawk superfine, produced at mills in Waterford, New York that date to 1866. The etching paper is Arches mouldmade in France.
The type is Perpetua, created by Eric Gill between 1925 and 1932, composed digitally and printed on large-format computer printer. The volume is hand-sewn into signatures and full-bound by hand over boards in natural Irish linen, with hand-marbled Italian endpapers and woven silk headbands.
The edition is 50 copies for sale, and 12 copies hors de commerce (one for each of the authors). All books are signed by the artist. Stephen Moore has created four etchings--plate size: 7 by 10 inches--that are interspersed throughout the volume and a pen and ink drawing of the book's title that is photo-reproduced and recessed into the volume's outside cover. The etchings were printed by the artist at the New York Art Students League.
Of the 50, 10 books are accompanied by an extra suite of all the etchings in the book, editioned on full sheet Arches 17 by 20 inches and presented in a unique portfolio case. Each of the editioned prints is numbered and signed by the artist. The extra suite of prints is limited to 10 for sale, 3 artist's proofs, and 3 publisher's proofs.
Permanent collections: Museum of Church History and Art, Salt Lake City, Utah; Marriott Library, Special Collections, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Harold B. Lee Library, Special Collections, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.
The deluxe and limited edition volumes are sold out and are no longer available.
